Project Dorothy I is a 100-megawatt data center located in Texas, with 50 megawatts currently operational and an additional 50 megawatts under construction. The facility is directly connected to a wind farm, utilizing excess energy that would otherwise go to waste due to grid congestion or low demand. This setup allows the data center to operate sustainably while supporting the renewable energy grid.
The project features Soluna's proprietary MaestroOS software, which manages power distribution, operations, and curtailment. This ensures efficient energy use and grid stability by adjusting demand as needed. The data center has achieved a record-breaking power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.01, highlighting its operational efficiency.
As of its completion, Project Dorothy I hosts over 15,630 Bitcoin mining machines, contributing to a total hashrate of 2.6 EH/s for Soluna. The facility has also monetized over 1,286 MWh of curtailed energy, equivalent to powering an electric car for over 4.8 million miles. This innovative approach not only enhances the economics of renewable energy but also demonstrates the potential for integrating green data centers with renewable power sources.
