The CJ2 Data Tower, located in Hoogersmilde, is a prominent data center in the Drenthe region. Originally known as Zendstation Smilde, this tower has a rich history dating back to its inauguration in 1959. Standing at a total height of 304 meters, with the concrete part reaching approximately 86 meters, it was officially reopened as the CJ2 Data Tower in 2015.
This data center is renowned for its commitment to sustainability, operating entirely on green electricity. It features advanced cooling methods, including free cooling from outside air and hot/cold corridors, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. The facility offers a 500m² data floor with a maximum power capacity of 860kW and boasts a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of less than 1.2, making it one of the greenest data centers in the Netherlands.
In addition to its data center services, the tower continues to serve as a hub for radio, television, mobile telephony, and radio links. It is also part of the critical government infrastructure due to the presence of the national emergency network. The CJ2 Data Tower provides flexible workspaces, a lunchroom with open WiFi, and excellent network connections, ensuring a reliable and efficient environment for its users.
