Volt Rotterdam

Volt Data Centres is developing an "AI Gigafactory" in Europoort Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with a planned capacity of up to 800MW. This facility aims to provide compute at an industrial scale to strengthen Europe's position in the global AI economy. The project is being developed in partnership with Dutch energy company Eneco, with the intention of powering the data center with North Sea wind energy. The site benefits from an existing high-voltage grid connection. Construction is anticipated to commence in 2027, contingent upon project development milestones and customer commitments. Volt is leading the Dutch bid to host one of the European Union's AI gigafactories, aiming to build infrastructure for Europe to become an AI producer rather than solely a consumer.
