KT Cloud has officially launched its Gyeongbuk AI Cloud Data Center in Yecheon-gun, South Korea. The facility spans four stories and covers 9,830 square meters, with a total power capacity of 10MW—6MW of which is dedicated to IT workloads. Developed through a public-private partnership with local government offices, the project represents a strategic move to support regional digital infrastructure and AI cloud services.
The data center was built with an investment of ₩110 billion (approximately $79.7 million) and is expected to begin offering cloud services in the second half of 2025. KT Cloud CEO Choi Ji-woong emphasized its significance as Korea’s first public-private data center model, aimed at revitalizing the local data industry and meeting growing demand for AI-driven solutions.
KT Cloud, a spin-off from KT Corp established in 2022, is rapidly expanding its footprint across South Korea. With a goal of reaching 320MW in total data center capacity by 2030, the Yecheon-gun facility adds to a growing portfolio that includes major sites in Seoul and other regions, positioning KT Cloud as a key player in the domestic hyperscale and AI infrastructure market.
