GS Donghae AI Data Center

The GS Donghae AI Data Center, located in Donghae, South Korea, is a significant AI infrastructure project with an initial capacity of 1.2 GW, expanding to a total of 2.4 GW by 2029. This facility is part of a KRW 30 trillion (US$19.9 billion) investment by GS and is situated on a 231,000 square meter site within the Bukpyeong 2 General Industrial Complex. The project aims to support South Korea's ambition to become a global leader in AI. The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is providing administrative support, including fast-tracking permits and ensuring the provision of essential infrastructure like water and electricity. The data center is expected to be operational by 2028, with the additional capacity coming online in 2029. GS plans to leverage its existing power infrastructure near the site.
