Opened in 2015 and fully built out in 2018, Equinix SG3 is a 7 store data center totaling 35.000 square meters building size, 16.600 square meters of colocation space and a capacity of 5.875 cabinets. The final phase of the data center in 2018, was an expansion with space for an additional 2.875 cabinets over 8.100 extra square meters of whitespace. Upon completion it was the largest Equinix IBX data center in the Asia-Pacific region.
The data center was originally built by Mapletree Industrial Trust for Equinix, who had a 20 year renewable lease on the property. The lease included an option to buy purchase the property 5 years after starting the lease. Hence Equinix bought the property from Mapletree Industrial Trust in 2021, for $93 million.
SG3 is situated in a flood- and earthquake free zone and is equipped with solar panels to power the buildings non-critical power needs.
