Sartera is Sartel’s public data center located in Le Mans, designed to serve local institutions and businesses with secure, sovereign data hosting. Developed under a public service delegation, it complements Sarthe’s full fiber optic coverage and supports regional digital transformation with high availability and compliance with French data protection laws.
The facility was built by repurposing a former paper archive center, integrating circular economy principles and minimizing environmental impact. Through material reuse and lifecycle analysis, the project achieved a 56% reduction in carbon footprint and 60% savings in resource use compared to new construction. It also features energy-efficient cooling systems that use outside air 87% of the time, delivering up to 22% energy savings.
Sartera offers 66–68 server bays, a PUE of 1.25 at 80% occupancy, and 99.982% service availability. It is designed to meet HDS certification standards for health data hosting and includes advanced security and access controls aligned with ANSSI guidelines. The center is expected to benefit over 200,000 users and reinforce Sarthe’s commitment to digital sovereignty and sustainable infrastructure.
