Microsoft officially opens the Roskilde facility as part of its new "Denmark East" datacenter region on March 26, 2026.

In December 2020 Microsoft announced that they were investing in a new Azure data center region for Denmark. The region would be located around the capital of Copenhagen, and was to be powered 100% by renewable energy.
The Roskilde data center was the first to have ground broken. The construction project was handled by Exyte.
