In December 2020 Microsoft announced that they were investing in a new Azure data center region for Denmark. The region would be located around the capital of Copenhagen, and was to be powered 100% by renewable energy.
The Høje Taastrup data center was the third project to be started, after Roskilde and Køge. Construction started in October 2022. The construction project was handled by Collen.
