OpenAI is developing the Stargate Milam County data center, located at 4299-2301 County Rd 134 in Burlington, Texas. This facility is planned to be a single-story structure spanning 548,950 square feet, featuring four data halls. The initial phase of the 'Freebird' project is expected to be completed by October 15th, with an estimated cost of $470 million. SB Energy, a SoftBank subsidiary, is responsible for the construction and operation of the 1.2GW facility, with Zoheir Taheri leading the project. OpenAI is an investor in SB Energy. Kaylen Bushell serves as the tenant contact for OpenAI. Corgan Architects is the design firm for the project. This development is part of OpenAI's broader strategy to scale compute infrastructure to tens of gigawatts.
