Meta's Aiken Data Center, located in Graniteville, South Carolina, is a key component of Meta's global infrastructure, designed to power technologies used by over 3 billion people worldwide. The facility emphasizes sustainability through water-efficient cooling technologies, native landscaping, rainwater capture, and water-saving fixtures. Meta aims to be water-positive by 2030 and matches its data centers' electricity usage with 100% clean and renewable energy, having achieved net-zero emissions in its global operations. The project represents a significant investment in South Carolina, creating approximately 100 operational jobs and employing over 1,200 skilled trade workers during peak construction. Meta is committed to local community investment through job creation, sourcing from local businesses, and supporting schools and nonprofits via its Data Center Community Action Grants program, which will launch upon the facility's operational start. The data center buildings are designed to achieve LEED® Gold certification, reflecting Meta's commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovation from design through operations.
