A significant data center development is underway at Ginger Ridge Road in Sprigg Township, Adams County, Ohio. The facility, located on a former Dayton Power & Light landfill site, has requested a substantial electricity load, starting at 100MW in 2028 and projected to increase to 1.3GW by 2032. The phased load increase includes 400MW in 2029, 700MW in 2030, and 1.1GW in 2031. Permits for construction have been issued by the US Army Corps of Engineers, with stipulations for environmental protection and buffer zones. The project has generated local opposition due to concerns about transparency, energy costs, pollution, and potential impact on local energy consumption, with petitions calling for statewide data center bans and rural zoning rules.
