Cisco RTP Data Center

The Cisco RTP Data Center, located in Morrisville, North Carolina, is a 19,200 sq ft Tier 2 facility built within an 82,000 sq ft building. It serves a dual purpose: supporting application development and acting as a disaster recovery (DR) site. The data center is designed to showcase Cisco's technology, including Unified Computing System (UCS), Nexus switches, and MDS storage switches. It is capable of supporting over 5,000 blade servers and more than 125,000 virtual machines, with a current capacity of 2.8MW of power and 18,500 sq ft of floor space. The facility features a sophisticated building automation system, electrostatic discharge flooring, and a dual-interlock pre-action sprinkler system. This LEED Gold project also includes a containerized data center product showcase. Its unique ability to switch between application development and DR modes is enabled by UCS's 'service profiles'.
