The Cato Data Centre Campus, located near Auchertool, Fife, United Kingdom, is a new, state-of-the-art facility designed to meet the substantial computing power demands of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Developed by ILI Group, a Scottish clean energy and infrastructure developer, this hyperscale data center is being built to the highest standards of efficiency, security, and sustainability, with a commitment to operating on 100% renewable energy sources. It represents the next generation of digital infrastructure, focusing on clean, modern, and future-ready technology. The project aims to address the growing demand for secure and powerful computing in the UK, supporting Scotland’s digital and net zero ambitions. The site was chosen for its strong electricity grid connection and is part of a wider vision to transform the Mossmorran area into a hub for low-carbon innovation. The development is expected to bring hundreds of construction jobs and skilled tech jobs during operation, offering new opportunities for local businesses and young people, and strengthening the UK's position in the global AI and digital economy. ILI Group plans a network of three such data centers across Scotland, collectively named The Stoics, with Cato being the Fife location.
