The NeoAI Datacenter, located in the Gwangmeyong General Industrial Complex in Ocheon-eup, Pohang, South Korea, is a significant data center development by NeoAI Cloud. The campus is planned to be a 300MW facility, with construction being handled by Hyundai Engineering and Construction. The initial phase will offer 40MW across 100,000 sqm, with local media reports aiming for completion in H1 2027. The project has seen an investment of approximately 2 trillion won ($1.35 billion) so far. Pohang's strategic location, approximately 38km from the Gyeongju Wolseong nuclear power plant, ensures a stable power supply, a critical factor for AI data centers. The city's existing large-scale substation infrastructure, built for its steel industry, further enhances its appeal. The project is also supported by investment from Forest Partners and has secured early demand commitments from major domestic cloud providers, covering 50% of the total capacity. The second phase of the project aims for an additional 260MW, with plans to secure demand from global big tech companies in the latter half of the year and commence construction in the first half of next year. Upon completion of both phases, NeoAI Datacenter is set to become one of South Korea's largest AI data center clusters.
