The RNCA Guimarães data center, located at Campus de Azurém, Av. da Universidade in Guimarães, Portugal, is a new facility for the National Center for Advanced Computing (RNCA). The project, awarded to the DST group with an estimated value of €5 million, is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) under the "Ciência Mais Digital" investment. Construction is expected to take 334 days, with completion anticipated in 2026.
The data center will occupy a total area of 500 sqm (5,380 sq ft) and is designed for services without permanent staff. The structure will utilize reinforced concrete, resilient slabs, and prefabricated panels for external walls to minimize noise. Sound-absorbing false ceilings, rock wool cladding, and sound-attenuating ventilation grilles are incorporated to meet ambient noise limits. The University of Minho, which hosts the Deucalion supercomputer as part of the RNCA, will house this new facility.
