Telxius Cancún

Telxius is developing a new carrier-neutral cable landing station (CLS) and Edge data center in Cancún, Mexico. This facility is designed to integrate submarine connectivity, terrestrial networks, and computing capacity into a unified infrastructure hub.

The Cancún site will serve as the landing point for the Tikal submarine cable, a joint project between Telxius and America Movil, scheduled for launch in the first half of 2027. Tikal will connect Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, with Boca Raton, Florida, offering a new route between the Caribbean and the United States, thereby increasing international traffic path diversity and reducing dependence on existing routes. The infrastructure will also provide an alternative route to Santiago de Querétaro.

Beyond its role as a cable landing station, the Cancún facility will house an Edge data center tailored for data-intensive and latency-sensitive applications. The data center adheres to Tier III standards, featuring N+1 and 2N redundancy in its power and cooling systems, complemented by robust physical and network security measures. This development positions Cancún as a significant digital hub for the Caribbean and the Americas.
