Omniva Kuwait

Omniva, formerly Moneta United Technologies, is a Kuwaiti-backed data center startup with ambitious plans. Initially registered in 2014, the company pivoted from targeting wholesale customers to building the world's largest cryptomining data center. Funded by the wealthy Kuwaiti business Khalid Yousuf Al-Marzouq & Sons Group of Companies (KMGC), Omniva aimed to leverage discounted energy for its operations.

In 2022, plans included two data centers in Kuwait, with a focus on custom immersion-cooled racks and proprietary ASIC semiconductors. The company developed immersion tanks codenamed Athena, utilizing 3M's Novec fluid. However, reports indicate a lack of data center expertise at senior levels and significant funding challenges.

Following a pivot towards AI, high-performance computing, and large language models, Omniva has rebranded and hired notable executives from major tech companies like AWS and Microsoft. Despite these changes and mass layoffs in its ASIC team, the company's long-term success remains uncertain, contingent on investor focus on technical fundamentals.
