The Barranquilla Internet Exchange (IX) is a neutral interconnection point in Colombia, operated by PIT Colombia. It uses a Spine & Leaf architecture at Layer 2, ensuring a stable and secure service. The IX supports both single-mode (SMF) and multi-mode (MMF) fiber optics, with maximum distances of 10 km for 1000Base-LX and 10GBase-LR, and 40 km for 10GBase-ER. The IX adheres to best practices, including specific ethertypes for MAC layer specifications and policies for MAC addresses per port. It offers high-speed connections and low latency, enhancing the internet experience for users in Colombia.
