Amazon AWS - Gutenbergstraße 15

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is developing a significant data center campus located at Gutenbergstraße 15 in Maintal, Germany, as part of its expansion within the Frankfurt region. The facility will span 10.6 hectares (26 acres) and will include two server buildings, a substation, and office spaces. This project is a component of AWS's substantial $9.44 billion investment in its Frankfurt region, announced in 2024. The data center is designed to create up to 100 permanent jobs. Power will be sourced directly from the grid, with primary cooling utilizing recirculated air. Water-based cooling systems may be employed during warmer periods, with approximately 93 percent of the required water supply expected to come from stored rainwater. AWS servers are noted for their low water consumption per kWh. The company launched its Frankfurt region in 2014, and this new Maintal facility, along with another in Schöneck, represents further growth in Germany.
