ITrium Jouy-en-Josas, developed by TotaLinuX, is a pioneering hybrid project in France, combining a smart building, data center, and energy supplier. Scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2024, this facility features a fully submerged data center integrated into a high-performance green office building.
Addressing the significant energy consumption and environmental impact of traditional data centers, ITrium employs disruptive immersion cooling technology. This method, validated by a CNRS and INRIA laboratory, is more environmentally friendly than air cooling and can reduce electricity consumption by up to 60%. The dielectric fluid used is non-conductive, mineral-based, biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-flammable, with a lifespan of 25 years.
The heat generated by the servers is transferred via a heat exchanger to a cold water loop. The resulting heated water, approximately 55 degrees Celsius, is utilized for the building's energy needs and can be reinjected into the Jouy-en-Josas urban heating network. The data center is part of a 3-story building that also includes 2,500 m2 of office and cultural spaces.
