Regant Mikkeli

Regant Oy is planning a new data center in Mikkeli, Finland, specifically within the Visulahti industrial area. The City of Mikkeli has officially approved a lease of five hectares of land to Regant for this purpose.

The site is strategically located at the intersection of Suonsaarentie and Vanha Pieksämäentie. It offers significant connectivity advantages, with robust access to Fingrid’s main electricity grid—making it well-suited for a data center with substantial energy demands.

Regant highlighted the competitiveness of the Visulahti location, citing excellent collaboration with the City of Mikkeli and local development agency Miksei. According to the company, the area’s zoning already supports data center development, and the plot includes over 24,000 square meters of buildable rights.

While the precise specifications of the data center will be determined during the design phase, Regant is the third firm to announce data center ambitions in Visulahti. Fincap Data Center Corp and Compute Nordic Finland have also reserved plots nearby, underscoring the area's growing importance as a regional tech hub.

However, broader uncertainty surrounds the sector in Finland due to ongoing discussions in Parliament regarding the removal of tax incentives for data centers—posing potential delays or revisions to project timelines.
