Compute Nordic Mikkeli

Compute Nordic is planning a major data center investment in Visulahti, a designated industrial zone within Mikkeli, Finland. The company has secured a 10-hectare plot from the city, located at the intersection of Highway 5 and Route 72, near Fingrid’s Visulahti substation. The site comes with pre-approved zoning for data center development and related support infrastructure.

The project is in its design phase, with precise timelines and final scope to be determined. However, Compute Nordic intends to build a scalable and energy-efficient facility that aligns with its commitment to carbon-neutral operations. Waste heat recovery is a key element, with plans to reuse part of the excess heat internally and potentially supply it to Mikkeli’s district heating network.

This initiative is backed by Mikkeli’s local development agency Miksei and reflects the city’s strategic push to attract green digital infrastructure. The site benefits from strong grid connectivity and ample energy capacity, reinforcing Mikkeli’s growing reputation as a hub for sustainable tech investments in Finland.
