The Dongara Data Centre, located at the Arrowsmith site in Western Australia, is a 1MW modular data center developed by Pilot Energy in partnership with Kala Data. It is powered by excess natural gas from the existing 4.4MW gas-fired generators, utilizing flared gas. The facility is equipped with Starlink and is scheduled to go live in late March.
The initial 1MW module, including its immersion thermal management systems, has been assembled in China and is awaiting shipment. Engineering works for installation and power connection are complete, with minor civil works expected to commence shortly. The project aims to generate revenue by maximizing the value of Pilot Energy's existing infrastructure.
Future expansion plans include scaling the data center to 4MW by mid-2026. This build-out would position the Dongara Data Centre as one of Western Australia's first live data centers in the Mid West region and potentially a top ten facility in the state by power capacity. Pilot Energy and Kala are also exploring the potential to scale their data center footprint to 30-35MW across Arrowsmith or the Three Springs Solar Project.
