Continent 8 Technologies has launched its second data center in West Virginia, named West Virginia DC2, located in Petersburg. This purpose-built facility, developed in partnership with the Seneca Rocks Regional Development Authority, spans 10,200 sq ft and is designed for colocation, hosting, and disaster recovery services.
The data center is situated in the Grant County Business & Technology Park, offering a "Ready-To-Occupy" space with essential infrastructure. It features a 2-foot raised floor, a 1,250 kW Cummins generator with ample fuel storage, and an internally redundant UPS system. Power is supplied by Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of First Energy, known for its robust and scalable grid. Connectivity is provided by multiple fiber providers including Shentel, Frontier Communications, and HardyNet, offering high-speed dark and retail fiber options.
Security is a priority, with a state-of-the-art system including Keri Systems access control, multi-point monitoring, and a fenced equipment yard. The facility is located in a region with low natural disaster risk and benefits from moderate year-round temperatures, allowing for free-cooling. Its strategic location in the Eastern Panhandle provides excellent regional proximity to major markets like Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, while offering a secure and accessible off-site location.
