Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the company behind a significant $4.8 billion data center project located in the Wallula Gap Business Park, Burbank, Washington. The project encompasses approximately 553 acres and is planned to include 16 buildings, totaling over 3.4 million square feet of space. The development will occur in four phases, with each phase consisting of 125 acres and four 215,000 sq ft buildings. This facility is strategically situated near major transportation routes, including US Highway 12 and the Union Pacific Railroad mainline. AWS has also secured a nuclear power agreement with Energy Northwest in Washington, providing up to 320MW of capacity for its operations. The Walla Walla market is located in southeastern Washington, an area with a growing data center presence.
