Amazon Web Services (AWS) is transforming its 17.5-acre site in Springfield, Fairfax County, Virginia, into a two-story data center spanning 120,000 square feet (11,150 sqm). Previously, AWS acquired two 111,000-square-foot office buildings at 7951 and 7961 Loisdale Road for $28 million from Loisdale 24 LLC. Built in 2013 but never occupied, these structures are being demolished to make way for the new facility. This initiative is part of AWS's ongoing efforts to expand its data center operations in Virginia, a key hub for cloud infrastructure.
