Amazon Web Services (AWS) has submitted a permit application for a new data center campus in Louisa County, Virginia. Named the Desper Creek Technology Campus, the proposed site spans 140 acres and could host up to eight data centers along with a substation.
This marks AWS’s fourth attempt to expand in the county’s Technology Overlay District, following earlier plans that were withdrawn after community feedback. The new proposal aims to meet growing demand for cloud services and fulfill AWS’s economic commitments to the state.
AWS already has two campuses underway in Louisa County and has pledged a total investment of $11 billion in the region by 2040. The company continues to expand its footprint across Virginia, with ambitions to build data centers in every county between Northern Virginia and Richmond.
