Amazon's Mattermeade Data Center project is a significant development planned for Caroline and Spotsylvania Counties in Virginia. The campus will include access roads, parking lots, dock areas, stormwater management facilities, and three substation pads to connect the campus to the electrical grid. Cooling water will be sourced from Spotsylvania County's municipal supply. To mitigate environmental impacts, Amazon plans to purchase wetland and stream credits.
This initiative is part of Amazon's broader commitment to invest $35 billion in Virginia's data center infrastructure by 2040, with the goal of establishing a data center in every county between Northern Virginia and Richmond.
