The previous owners, the Warhurst family, operated a 12,000 sq ft store and a 37,000 sq ft greenhouse on the site, which opened in 2008. BlackChamber Group, founded in 2019, is a private equity firm specializing in data center development, particularly build-to-suit powered shells for hyperscalers, with significant funding and prior experience in projects like John Marshall Commons Tech Park and Village Place Technology Park. While BlackChamber Group has not yet disclosed specific plans for the Merrifield site, its acquisition highlights the ongoing data center development in Northern Virginia.
