Takanock is developing Project Tallmadge, a 2 million square foot data center campus in Strasburg, Virginia. Located on an 87-acre site in Shenandoah County, the project is designed to meet the growing demand for compute-intensive workloads from hyperscalers and AI platforms. The site will feature two-story buildings and is part of a broader portfolio that includes over 1,600 acres and more than 2.8GW of planned IT capacity across multiple U.S. states.
What sets Project Tallmadge apart is Takanock’s integrated approach to digital and power infrastructure. The company’s patent-pending utility yard design incorporates on-site natural gas generation, enabling the campus to operate independently until grid connections are fully established. This model accelerates time to power and enhances grid flexibility—key advantages in constrained Tier I markets like Northern Virginia.
Backed by $500 million in capital from DigitalBridge and ArcLight Capital, Takanock aims to sell shovel-ready sites to data center operators. Construction on Project Tallmadge is expected to begin in late 2027, with completion around 2030. The project reflects Takanock’s strategy of bridging energy and digital infrastructure to deliver scalable, resilient solutions for the next generation of data centers.
