T5 Data Centers is proposing T5@Dulles, a significant data center development located in Chantilly, Virginia. This facility is planned to span approximately 312,000 square feet on a 19-acre site at the intersection of Stonecroft Boulevard and Lee Road.
A key feature of T5@Dulles is its innovative approach to power generation. The data center intends to primarily utilize on-site fuel cells that convert natural gas into electricity. This technology offers a cleaner alternative to traditional power sources, producing nearly zero criteria air pollutants and less carbon dioxide than the typical power grid.
While fuel cells will provide the base load power, the facility will also draw electricity from the grid during higher load periods. Traditional diesel generators will be available as a backup power source for emergency situations. The fuel cells will be housed in a screened outdoor yard and are designed to be a subordinate and accessory use to the main data center operations.
