American Tower EDC San Antonio

American Tower Corporation is developing a new Edge data center in San Antonio, Texas, located at 5436 W US Hwy 90. The project involves an investment of $15 million to construct a 7,255 sq ft (674 sqm) "electronic data storage center" on a vacant lot adjacent to an existing cellular communications facility. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2024 with an anticipated completion date of December 2024. The day-to-day operations of this new facility will be separate from, but related to, the cellular communications operations. This development is part of American Tower's broader Edge data center rollout strategy, which aims to identify over 1,000 potential sites for 1MW Edge data centers. While American Tower is a majority owner of data center provider CoreSite, this specific project is distinct from CoreSite's operations, as CoreSite currently has no data centers in Texas. This initiative aligns with the growing trend of Edge data center deployments by tower companies.
