HOU1 is a purpose-built, 45,000 GSF colocation facility located at 2626 Spring Cypress Road in Spring, Texas - the initial data center on TRG’s Houston campus. From its launch in 2018, HOU1 has delivered a flawless operational record, achieving 100% uptime and serving more than 160 customers, including multiple Fortune 500 firms.
HOU1 is designed for resilience, with a 2N+1 distributed-redundancy architecture and fully redundant power and cooling paths. Power is supplied via multiple substations in the area, with dual power distribution buses and physically separate cooling distribution. Critical UPS backup is provided by pure-lead batteries in a 2(N+1) configuration, and indoor backup generation is handled by multiple 1.5 MVA Rolls-Royce MTU V18 Twin-Turbo systems. Fuel reserves last 4+ days (and up to 12+ with bi-fuel) - with fast generator switchover (< 10 sec) meeting NFPA 110 requirements.
HOU1’s cooling approach is water-free, eliminating internal water distribution risk and improving environmental safety; the design supports high-density racks and GPU-heavy or high-performance workloads.
Connectivity is a strong point: the site hosts 16 on-campus carriers (including the region’s primary Megaport IX), and offers 500-count wholesale fiber and free, lifetime cross-connects. That robust interconnectivity - combined with abundant power and reliable infrastructure - makes HOU1 an attractive base for enterprises, cloud providers, high-density compute, and hosting operations needing low-latency links across Texas and U.S. metros.
