Vantage Data Centers is planning a hyperscale campus in Shackelford County, Texas, marking one of the region’s most ambitious infrastructure projects to date. The proposed development spans approximately 1,200 acres at the intersection of Highway 604 and Highway 351, with construction expected to begin in late 2025 and continue through 2029. This multi-phase initiative will be Vantage’s first operational footprint in Texas, complementing its growing portfolio across North America.
The project is designed to deliver long-term economic and social impact, including 250 full-time jobs with a projected annual payroll of $25 million, and up to 6,500 workers during peak construction. Vantage has committed to hosting local job fairs, offering up to 10 college scholarships annually, and contributing $150,000 per year to community causes for the first decade. A 10-year tax abatement agreement will also provide $10 million annually to Shackelford County, potentially doubling its operating budget.
Beyond its economic footprint, the campus will be built with sensitivity to the surrounding environment and community. Vantage has emphasized its intent to be a “good neighbor,” ensuring minimal disruption to nearby ranching and wildlife operations. While Albany ISD won’t directly benefit from the tax arrangement due to district boundaries, students across Shackelford County will still be eligible for scholarships and training programs.
