The STEM Practice Chattanooga

The STEM Practice is involved in the redevelopment of the former Hamilton County Jail in Chattanooga, Tennessee, into Jailhouse Studios. This project, spearheaded by Urban Story Ventures, aims to convert the eight-story building into film studios, a music production space, and a data center. The STEM Practice, an Oracle Cloud partner, is contributing an AI inference network to the facility. The data center component is planned to be relatively small, housing only ten racks, and will primarily serve the production requirements of the companies within Jailhouse Studios. The project is envisioned to foster workforce development and job creation within the Chattanooga community. The former jail, located at 601 Walnut Street, closed in 2021 and totals 142,000 sq ft. The STEM Practice's broader strategy involves transforming underutilized data centers into AI-ready hubs using Oracle Distributed Cloud Infrastructure.
