NorthMark Strategies, through its subsidiary Valara Holdings, is undertaking a significant $2.8 billion investment to develop Project Moc-1, a high-performance computing (HPC) facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The project involves repurposing the former Kohler manufacturing facility, with initial phases focusing on 350,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space and later phases expanding into the 500,000 sq. ft. vitreous plant. This development aims to establish one of the world's most advanced HPC centers, utilizing cutting-edge technology for machine learning, data analytics, and complex systems modeling. The facility is designed for self-generation of power to ensure operational independence and minimize strain on local resources. Environmental remediation is underway to enhance the site's health. The project is expected to create 400-600 construction jobs and employ at least 27 full-time staff upon operation, with a commitment to utilizing regional businesses for support. Project Moc-1 will feature the latest HPC hardware, including advanced processors, GPUs, and high-speed networking, positioning it as a hub for innovation in artificial intelligence, data science, and advanced simulations.
