The Pennsylvania Digital 1 (PAX-1) Campus, a joint venture between PowerHouse Data Centers and Pennsylvania Data Center Partners, is a significant hyperscale data center development located on approximately 700 acres in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This project features three distinct campuses, each comprising six purpose-built data center buildings, totaling over four million square feet of development. The campus is engineered to deliver 1.35 gigawatts (GW) of power capacity, with the infrastructure designed for scalability up to 1.8 GW, supported by dedicated 450 MW electrical substations for each campus. A key feature is the direct connection to a new PPL 500 kV to 138 kV switching station. Strategically positioned in the Northeast's emerging AI corridor, PAX-1 offers direct access to major transportation routes and connectivity to 17 metro fiber networks, including direct peering to Ashburn, Virginia. Construction is underway, with initial power delivery of 450 MW expected in Q2 2027, scaling to 900 MW by Q2 2028 and 1,350 MW by Q2 2029. The project benefits from Pennsylvania's data center tax exemption, offering a 100% abatement of sales and use taxes on equipment and electricity for up to 15 years.
