Slate Belt Holdings Campus

Talen Energy, through its partnership Slate Belt Holdings LLC with River Pointe Logistics, is planning a significant data center development in Mt Bethel, Pennsylvania. The proposed campus, located on 754 acres, could feature up to 23 buildings, each approximately 201,500 sq ft, and will be supported by a substantial 480MW on-site substation. This development is situated in the Allentown market, near the border with New Jersey. The site was previously earmarked for a potential Amazon campus, which reportedly withdrew due to power availability concerns. Talen Energy has been actively involved in data center development since 2021, with prior projects including facilities adjacent to its Susquehanna nuclear plant. The company is currently engaged in legal challenges regarding local zoning ordinances that may exclude data center uses.
