Oakline at Mill Creek is a planned 75-acre data center campus located in Salem, Oregon's Mill Creek Corporate Center. Developed by Verrus, a company backed by Sidewalk Infrastructure Partners, the facility will comprise three buildings and a utility substation. It is designed to be grid-interactive, capable of dynamically reducing energy consumption during peak demand to support regional grid reliability. The campus will employ a closed-loop cooling system to significantly reduce water usage compared to conventional data centers and will utilize lithium iron phosphate battery storage for primary backup power, aiming to lower emissions.
Verrus emphasizes Oakline's commitment to being a responsible neighbor, focusing on preserving on-site Heritage Oak trees, utilizing thoughtful architecture, and native landscaping. The project also aims to minimize noise and operate quietly, adhering to City of Salem noise standards. Verrus plans to maintain transparent communication with the community through a monitoring website tracking noise levels, water usage, and tax contributions. The development is supported by SEDCOR as a community economic development partner and is expected to generate significant local construction and permanent jobs, contributing to the local economy.
