SB Energy

A significant data center campus is proposed for the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio. This project, spearheaded by SoftBank and its subsidiary SB Energy in partnership with AEP Ohio and the US Department of Energy, aims to leverage federal land for advanced technology infrastructure. The development includes plans for 10GW of new power generation, primarily from natural gas, to support a 10GW data center. Construction is anticipated to commence this year. This initiative is part of a broader public-private partnership focused on redeveloping DOE land in Southern Ohio, fostering job creation, and supporting the growth of AI and cutting-edge technologies. The project also involves substantial investment in upgrading and building new electric transmission lines in the region, ensuring robust power supply without impacting customer rates.
