Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to develop a significant data center project, codenamed Project Galaxy, in Sidney, Ohio. Located on the north side of Millcreek Road, west of Vandemark Road, the $3 billion development has received a 30-year, 100 percent tax abatement from the city council, with Amazon providing a $50 million payment in lieu of taxes over 15 years. Construction is anticipated to commence in January 2026 and conclude by 2030. This expansion aligns with AWS's broader investment plans in Ohio, which include an estimated $23 billion in data centers by the end of 2029/2030. AWS already operates data center campuses in the Midwest and has invested in renewable energy projects across Ohio.
