Microsoft Boyd Farms (CLT12) is a component of the expansive Microsoft Boyd Farm Campus, a significant data center development located in Maiden, North Carolina. Situated on a 294.73-acre site, this campus is strategically positioned to enhance Microsoft's cloud infrastructure capacity and bolster its North Carolina Regional Network Gateway (RNG).
The Boyd Farm Campus is planned to feature five distinct data center facilities: CLT10, CLT11, CLT12, CLT13, and CLT14. Each of these facilities is engineered to deliver up to 48MW of power capacity. The development also includes provisions for a dedicated Duke Energy substation to ensure robust power supply.
Microsoft's development approach prioritizes environmental stewardship, with construction focused on approximately 80 acres of the total site. This allows for the preservation of substantial open space and minimizes environmental impact. The design actively avoids most of the site's 100-year floodplain and approximately 8,142 linear feet of stream channel. The campus's location adheres to the RNG's requirement for sites to be within 20 kilometers of other data centers in the region.
