Microsoft Boyd Farms (CLT11) is a planned data center facility located in Maiden, North Carolina, northwest of the intersection of Zeb Haynes Road and W. Maiden Road. This facility is part of a larger 294.73-acre data center campus, which is being developed to enhance Microsoft's cloud infrastructure capacity and support its North Carolina Regional Network Gateway (RNG).
The Boyd Farm Campus is slated to include five single-story data center buildings: CLT10, CLT11, CLT12, CLT13, and CLT14. Each of these facilities is designed with a capacity of up to 48MW. The campus will also feature a dedicated pad for a Duke Energy substation.
Development efforts are focused on approximately 80 acres of the total site, allowing Microsoft to maintain significant portions as open space and reduce environmental impacts. The design aims to avoid the majority of the site's 100-year floodplain and approximately 8,142 linear feet of stream channel.
As a component of Microsoft's North Carolina Regional Network Gateway, the Boyd Farm Campus's location was chosen to ensure it is within 20 kilometers of other data centers in the region, facilitating network connectivity and efficiency.
