MCNC’s data center services extend beyond RTP to a second facility housed inside the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) in Rosman, North Carolina. This location offers secure colocation options for organizations seeking infrastructure in the western part of the state.

The Rosman facility features a 1,200-square-foot raised-floor data hall built to U.S. Department of Defense standards. It includes 45 tons of cooling capacity, a 500 kW uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and a 500 kVA diesel generator for backup power.

Connectivity is provided via the North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN), enabling high-speed access to remote instruments and computing resources. The site supports disaster recovery, remote learning, and scientific research, with recent upgrades funded by PARI and the National Science Foundation totaling $1.5 million.

Together, MCNC’s RTP and Rosman data centers offer scalable, resilient infrastructure with 24x7x365 monitoring, customizable colocation packages, and optional services like firewall protection, load balancing, and SAN storage.
