12899 Moores Chapel Rd

Digital Realty is planning a 400MW data center campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company has filed for zoning approval to develop the site along 12899 Moores Chapel Road, expanding its presence in the region. The proposed campus will span 156 acres and include two two-story buildings, with a total of 3 million square feet dedicated to telecommunications and data storage.

The site was acquired in November 2024 for $160 million and was previously rezoned from single-family use to industrial development. Digital Realty has also purchased additional land nearby, including a 48-acre parcel for $20 million, to support future expansion. City staff have recommended approval for the project, which is expected to strengthen Charlotte’s position as a data center hub.

Digital Realty currently operates a 2MW facility in Charlotte and has been actively growing its footprint in the area. The company’s broader expansion strategy includes acquisitions and new developments across the Southeast United States, reinforcing its commitment to large-scale digital infrastructure.
