Vulcan Infrastructure Dresden, formerly Greenidge Generation, is a significant data center facility located in Dresden, New York. Originally commissioned in 1937, the site underwent a substantial transformation with over $136 million in investment, being reborn as a modern data center in 2017. The facility is powered by natural gas, having permanently eliminated coal use. It plays a dual role by providing electricity to New York's grid, especially during peak demand, and anchoring the economy of Yates County.  The data center contributes significantly to the local economy, generating substantial annual economic impact and supporting numerous New York jobs.  In November 2025, Vulcan Infrastructure signed a five-year air permit with New York State, committing to a 44% reduction in permitted emissions by 2030, exceeding state Climate Act goals.
