The company acquired the property in 2022 with initial plans for a cannabis-friendly resort that did not materialize. The Town of Portland board has expressed conditional support for the data center concept, recognizing the site's potential for digital infrastructure development. This project represents a strategic shift for Weed Inc., aiming to convert a dormant asset into a future-facing infrastructure platform. The site's existing water rights and wastewater management systems are considered advantageous for data center operations.
