A new data center is proposed for St. Charles, Missouri, with plans moving forward after receiving a partial recommendation for approval from the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The 40-acre facility would be built on land that was formerly farmland near Fountain Lakes Industrial Park and is intended to support high-performance computing, including AI workloads.

The project, led by an undisclosed developer, faced concerns over traffic, noise, and environmental impacts during the review process. In response, the developer adjusted plans to reduce physical footprint and limit operational noise through enhanced structural buffering and acoustic design features.

Though not yet fully approved, the data center is seen as a strategic investment that could bring technical jobs and infrastructure to the greater St. Louis region. Further evaluation and community consultations are expected before it advances to final approval stages.
