Nebius Independence DC1

Nebius, a Nasdaq-listed cloud provider specializing in AI workloads, is planning a significant data center development in Independence, Missouri. The project, named the Nebius Independence Campus, is set to be a large-scale facility located in the Eastgate Commerce Center, spanning approximately 2.5 million square feet across up to four buildings on 400 acres.

This state-of-the-art AI factory will feature a closed-loop cooling system. The campus will require a substantial power supply of at least 800MW, to be provided by a new, privately financed facility developed by Independence Power Partners (IPP) at the former Blue Valley Power Plant site. The power infrastructure will be built in phases, with initial capacity expected by October 2027 and further expansion planned.

Construction is slated to begin soon, with the first phase of the campus anticipated to launch in 2028. Nebius, which was spun out from Yandex in 2024, aims to provide GPU access across its global presence in the US, Middle East, and Europe, with Independence positioned as a key location for its AI initiatives.
